Gun! Guns! Guns!: A Twitter Battle

It’s no secret that twitter is a cesspool of foul thought and illogical statements. That, said, I have a lot of fun there. I like to save many of these “conversations” for posterity. They are great insights into the minds of brainwashed statists.

Gabby Giffords unloads on GOP: “30,000 more Americans have been murdered with guns” since #SandyHook https://t.co/Yjm8eIvbMt

— Salon.com (@Salon) December 14, 2015

@Salon 32,000 people die every year on government roads. Let’s ban roads right? You people are a absurd.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@AnarchyEcon @Salon No, you are absurd and illogical. Gun deaths will outnumber vehicle deaths this year.

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @Salon it’s a fact that about 32000 people die per year in roads. You are not living up to your name it seems.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@AnarchyEcon @Salon It’s a fact that this year gun deaths will outnumber vehicle deaths. Take a reading comp course!

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @Salon over 37,000 people die every year in crashes. The FBI reports that there were 8,454 homicides with firearms in 2013.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @Salon I find it hard to believe that in 2 years, homicides with guns surpassed that number.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

Because that number is wrong! @AnarchyEcon @Salon

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

They then thought that some ad hominems would solidify their arguments further.

He/she must be high! https://t.co/re4E6W18xT

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

To which I responded again with facts:

The FBI reports that there were 8,454 homicides with guns. Over 37,000 people die per year in car crashes. https://t.co/d0iQMJwTse

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

You’re making that up. @AnarchyEcon

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion You can take your foot out of your mouth now.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

Then back up arrived.

@FactsVsOpinion Don’t like roads? How about hospitals? They kill 210,000-440,000 every year https://t.co/uAHSuS4u1N @AnarchyEcon

— Militia Law (@MilitiaLaw) December 14, 2015

@MilitiaLaw @FactsVsOpinion @AnarchyEcon let’s ban hospitals, they’re replete with murderers.

— Silence Is Consent (@mr_scottie) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @MilitiaLaw @AnarchyEcon we should ban people from other countries who offer opinions in regard to America.

— Silence Is Consent (@mr_scottie) December 14, 2015

Wow! You are so ignorant stupid, it’s painful. @MilitiaLaw @AnarchyEcon

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

Ditto. Educate yourself, moron: https://t.co/3aYeEy5OdG @AnarchyEcon

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

It’s the CDC that keeps track of this: https://t.co/3aYeEy5OdG @AnarchyEcon

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @AnarchyEcon yours must include suicides. “Killed by guns”. Vs “homicide “

— Neil Tipton (@NeilJTipton) December 14, 2015

Obviously, moron. Everyone killed by a gun. You don’t get to pick and choose. Also, includes accidental shootings @NeilJTipton @AnarchyEcon

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @NeilJTipton Let me ask you, Where does the US rank over all in Homicides? You are picking and choosing.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @NeilJTipton The US has had it’s homicide rate go down. https://t.co/LqE8ta6VRo

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @NeilJTipton Accidental deaths and suicides are completely different from malicious intent.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @NeilJTipton Just admit it that you hate guns and thats why you want to regulate them. It isn’t anything factual.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion Don’t get mad, just right click search to get definitions of the words you don’t know in the article @AnarchyEcon

— Militia Law (@MilitiaLaw) December 14, 2015

@MilitiaLaw @FactsVsOpinion Do you have anything other than personal attacks? I’ve been very cordial with you.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @MilitiaLaw we’ve all been cordial really.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

No, you have not. You’ve lied and provided false data. This is the truth. https://t.co/3aYeEy5OdG @AnarchyEcon @MilitiaLaw

— FactsVsOpinion (@FactsVsOpinion) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @MilitiaLaw You have been the one calling people names. We have provided reasons why you are wrong. You just repeat yourself

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion Also the fact that you thought @AnarchyEcon‘s study contradicted yours made it look like u thought they were all homicide.

— Neil Tipton (@NeilJTipton) December 14, 2015

@FactsVsOpinion @AnarchyEcon otherwise why would you presume mutual exclusivity and then presume the other study was a lie

— Neil Tipton (@NeilJTipton) December 14, 2015

@NeilJTipton @FactsVsOpinion I think it is safe to say you fall more towards the “opinion” side than “facts” on this subject.

— Logical Anarchy (@AnarchyEcon) December 14, 2015

I will update this as more comes along. I feel like many people hear only that which they want to hear. Of course the US will have higher deaths due to guns since they are still (mostly) legal. But what matters here is over all homicides. The US has significantly lower homicide rates compared to other places where guns are banned. Not only that, but contrary to what the media is saying in regards to gun violence as an epidemic, homicides are going down, not up.

  1. The right approach focuses on many issues – improvements to the mental health system, better security protocols and common sense rules about gun use, including keeping firearms out of the hands of dangerous individuals
