Have we not learned anything from Iraq about Foreign Intervention?

Remember when America was rallied together to go to war with Iraq back in 2003? Remember how the Statists in government said that there were WMDs over there? Oh and Al Qaeda was supposedly causing trouble there (even though Al Qaeda had no presence in the country until after we destabilized –er–I mean “liberated” the country)? Remember when President Bush said “mission accomplished” and then later admitted that Al Qaeda was never in the country and only became a problem after we took out Saddam? Remember How Obama pulled back our troops from Iraq under pressure of the Iraqi government? Well, all that worked out great. True to his word though, Obama has deployed 275 troops to Iraq “to provide support and security for U.S. personnel and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad,”. Yeah what happened to “no boots on the ground”?

I really don’t understand why we put up with our political leader’s war mongering. I don’t know what people see when our legislators talk of foreign conflict but I only see them salivating at the mouth for another war. It almost seems like they like sending young men to “die for our freedoms”, which is code for “die for special interests and government sponsors” (though lets be honest, goat herders in some back hole middle-eastern country pose no threat to our freedoms).

Concerning the 275 soldiers dailymail says “The president did not give a deadline for the troops’ exit, saying only that the 275 soldiers will remain in Iraq for as long as they are needed to protect U.S. interests.” What does that mean? What are US interests? I have a better idea than sending 275 people to fight in a useless war and protect the interest of the government elites. Lets just pack up our embassy and go home. How about that? How about we realize that Iraq was probably one the greatest mistakes in modern history? Ron Paul said in is his article “Haven’t We Already Done Enough Damage in Iraq”:

Gen. Odom, a former NSA director, called the Iraq war “the greatest strategic disaster in American history,” and told the surprised audience that he could not understand why Congress had not impeached the president for pushing this disaster on the United States. History continues to prove the General’s assessment absolutely correct.

Yeah, this seems like an accurate assessment of the Middle-East in general. He goes on to say:

No credible evidence has been produced that Iraq has or is close to having nuclear weapons. No evidence exists to show that Iraq harbors al Qaeda terrorists. Quite to the contrary, experts on this region recognize Hussein as an enemy of the al Qaeda and a foe to Islamic fundamentalism.

So what was the war for? I think it’s time to take the keys back from government and realize that politicians do not have our best interests at heart. And I’m saying politicians from both the left and right. They are both a bunch of pro war criminals and need to have the metaphorical keys to the car taken away.

Just as a heads up, a U.N. commission warning states that the entire Middle-East is on the brink of war. If this is true, you can be sure that the Empire of the United States will want to get involved. It’s time to revoke our consent to be governed by war mongering murderous elites in government. I’m pretty sure the general population is sick of our constant state of war. Lets just let the Middle-East do what it does, that is, kill each other. It isn’t our fight and it doesn’t concern us or our “interests”.
